Thanks for the Opportunity

Last week we installed GPS units in to three vehicles at a long-term client of ours. Two went in to brand spanking new F-250s. The other one went in to a slick new box truck not even decaled yet. The box truck put our client over one hundred vehicles in the field.

We have been working with this client since 2002. When we started they had all of eleven vehicles. The newest vehicle was at least seven years old. You could see through the floor of a couple of the service vans. Two nice young ladies set up front in what was usually a fairly cold office and did pretty much anything that came their way.

Fast forward to 2018 and our client regularly runs radio and tv spots. They have already outgrown the massive building they bought and moved in to just a few years ago. Those young ladies are a little bit older (still youthful looking and acting) but now manage thirty employees each.

We are sure all of the success is owed to using our GPS services. Ok, maybe not, but we do appreciate the opportunity to have been along for the magnificent ride and look forward to installing our units in to the next one hundred vehicles!

12k Miles Over and Counting

While daydreaming (safely) on the drive back from Kansas City a couple of weeks ago my mind drifted to oil changes because after a couple hundred miles what else is there to think about! I did the quick glance (safely) at the upper left portion of the windshield and the tag read next oil change April or 156,235 miles. I was pretty confident it was now October and that if the odometer was functioning correctly I was at 163.677 miles I was headed to 10k miles over. Genius. Nothing better to keep a high mileage car going than skipping oil changes. At that point I wished that I just had something to remind me to get my oil changed, replace filters, etc.

Turns out there is something and Roadside Systems developed it. Why I wasn’t using it is beyond me? Turns out it was not beyond our clients. More and more of our clients are using the RoMa Maintenance Software to manage their fleet. The RoMa Maintenance Software proactively alerts fleet managers about any number preventive maintenance tasks that need to be addressed. Clients even use the software as reminders for license renewals.

We signed up a client last week who is just looking at vehicle locations and reporting as a bonus. They think the maintenance software alone is enough to justify our fees. Maybe we need to charge more.

I now have the maintenance software set up for my vehicle and my oil changed. It was pretty easy to do.

Where in the World is that Skid Loader?

Hopefully it wasn’t stolen. Sadly, equipment theft happens routinely and it most likely not going to be tracked down without any tracking. Fortunately, the question “Where is that Skid Loader?” is usually asked about a piece of equipment that hasn’t been stolen it is just that no one knows where it was last used. It is great that you still own it but if you don’t know where it is it might as well have been stolen.

Equipment tracking costs have dropped and capabilities have improved. It is by far the fastest growing area of our business. Demos of our product turn in to widescale deployments quickly.

In some instances, the overall deployment of the tracking devices can take a bit. Why? Many or our clients don’t know the location of all of their equipment. Think about that for a little bit. These same companies have been purchasing new equipment every year unnecessarily while underutilizing what they own. Once installed clients can locate their equipment within seconds.

Equipment tracking is affordable and just plain makes sense.

Customer Demands – Driving Innovation

Everyday Roadside Systems is working on enhancements to the RoMa system. In almost almost all of our enhancements we are responding to feedback from our clients. Our more than twelve years of GPS based fleet management has made it crystal clear that our clients know their business far better than we do.

Our reports and software interface tools have been designed after careful and thorough discussion with clients in many different industries. In many cases our reports have been the first of their kind in our marketplace. As developers that is exciting. More importantly the tools help our client’s business thrive and usually that means happy customers- which is even more exciting.

Winter Time is Install Time

As we finish out fall and waltz into winter we get really busy around here. Many of our clients take the end of the year to catch up on those to-dos that weren’t done. Frequently that means installing a unit in to the new vehicle that was missed. Sometimes it is just moving a unit from one vehicle in to another vehicle. Any which way it works out great for Roadside Systems (and hopefully our clients) as we always end up installing bunches and bunches of units. Just like our HVAC clients a chill in the air is not so bad for us.

We also pick up many new clients this time of year so you are not alone if you’ve been thinking about ditching that no-good GPS vendor that you currently use.
